TESPI is a free web-based tool aimed at supporting environmentally conscious design, taking into account the product life cycle, the customers’ needs and competitors’ products. It has been developed to support the first steps of product design, as well as redesigning existing products - in particular, modular manufactured articles that can be disassembled and each component analysed.
The tool is made up of two parts:
In the framework of the ABP Programme, the KÖVET Association collects measures, projects and investments that are environmentally and economically advantageous. Through case studies, it shows that spending on environmental protection is not 'money thrown out the window', but can also be financially beneficial and give environmentally-conscious businesses and organisations economic benefits.
The Flemish Enterprise and Innovation Agency (VLAIO) offers companies individual energy screening (energy scan) via contracted professional energy consultancies.
SMEs can order the free energy scan through the KEEP project with optional implementation advice following up on the recommended energy measures. Owners of accommodation and tourist attractions can order the service through the KOALA project.
SME Energy Guide offers insights and tips to help businesses decrease their energy use.
With the benchmarking calculator, a company can quickly find out whether it consumes more than average for the relevant sector. The data provided is anonymous and secure. Once the benchmark is established, the saving tool helps to identify which measures are best suited to help the company save energy by calculating the investment cost, payback time and CO2 savings. The tool also showcases good practices in energy savings by other companies.
Water Consumption Simulation is a calculator that helps cattle farms to better understand how much water they use. Farmers can check whether their consumption is realistic and do a simulation of their water use and costs for different scenarios.
Packaging consumes around 5 % of the energy needed during a product's life cycle. Pack4Ecodesign is a free online toolbox to help professionals design better, more eco-friendly packaging. In particular, the tool calculates the environmental impact of specific packaging materials used in terms of greenhouse gas contributions, water and energy consumption, and provides tips to address these concerns.
Pack4Recycling is an easy-to-use tool for assessing whether the packaging is recyclable or not. It also provides tips for improving the recylability through ‘design for recycling’ principles and other measures which help minimise the overall environmental impact of packaging.
Close the Loop is a tool that guides fashion entrepreneurs through the basics of a more sustainable and circular way of working.
The tool provides automated feedback, tips, comparisons and access to good practices on good waste management for SMEs. The feedback is based on the waste-production data of SMEs collected through the IMJV, an annual Flemish mandatory survey on environmental performance from the Flemish government.
