Delivered through a downloadable planner, the toolkit gives users step-by-step actions for engaging and motivating staff. There are six stages covered: setting up a green team; staff training in the workplace;  engagement campaigns on 'switch-off' and leak reporting; engaging staff to improve waste segregation; and engaging staff on energy saving at home. The planner also contains links to the free resources in the toolkit, including posters, stickers, staff training presentations and quizzes.

Free online course to help trainees identify and implement resource efficiency improvements within their organisation. The course is made up of a series of short modules with supporting guides, tools and templates. Certifcates are awarded at the satisfactory completion of modules.

Interactive virtual sustainable community designed to represent a typical town in Scotland. It covers a range of sectors including retail, food and drink, hospitality, accomodation, manufacture and business services. Users can visit each business and view suggestions of how to avoid waste, reduce water and energy use, comply with new laws, and save money. Opportunities of interest can be selected by the user and downloaded as a pdf document.

A handy self-assessment tool which takes users through a series of questions to chart their current energy, water, materials, and waste-management performance. The user has the opportunity to select which resource efficiency area(s) they wish to explore. The tool then generates a semi-tailored report indicating how the user is performing in that area and the actions they can take to improve.

The helpline can be contacted by telephone, e-mail and web chat. The service provides basic information and advice to anyone who calls and makes enquiries. If The Hub is unable to provide the advice requested, the enquirer will be referred to a partner organisation that can help; for example, a transport programme operated by another delivery agent.

Resource Efficient Scotland's advice service provides 1-2-1 support via a team of dedicated advisors and wider framework of technical consultants. Provided via site-visits or telephone, the support is designed to help SMEs identify and implement opportunities to reduce their use of energy, water and raw materials, and improve their waste-management practices. Each recipient of support receives a bespoke report that identifies and quantifies savings opportunities, and where possible, provides estimates of capital investment and payback period.

This tool provides farmers clear and reliable information on renewable energy systems (RES).

Answering simple online questions, farmers can plot their energy and heat needs to calculate an optimal RES mix, and which installations and devices are likely to work best given the conditions on their site (e.g. terrain, roofs, etc.).

The tool provides guidance on six RES micro-installation types: photovoltaic systems, small wind farms, micro-biogas plants, solar collectors, biomass boilers, and ground heat pumps.

Biogas calculator is a tool used to estimate the volume of biogas production, production of electricity and heat, project implementation costs, as well as the payback period of incurred investment costs. The analysis consists of four stages in which it is possible to insert the input data and the results of the analysis are generated. The first one concerns the dosing of substrates. The second presents the parameters of the biogas plant operation, the effects of the fermentation process and the volume of electricity and heat production.
