Summary: The Cluster GAIA (“Industry Association of Applied Knowledge and Technologies”) has established itself as a key actor within the industrial ecosystem of the Basque Country. Since the early 1990s, GAIA has been actively collaborating with regional public authorities, being an intermediary agent between supply and demand side and acting as an important vehicle to facilitate regional industrial transition policies.

Summary: The “Associazione Clust-ER Industrie Culturali e Creative (Clust-ER CREATE)”, located in Bologna, assumes the role of a coordinator of the Creative & Cultural Industries (CCI) ecosystem, which is amongst the main innovative ecosystems in the region Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The Clust-ER CREATE was formally established as a registered association in May 2017 and is highly involved in the regional strategies and implementation plans fostering innovation activities and the green and digital transition of Emilia-Romagna.

Summary: Region Värmland, together with the cluster initiative Paper Province, has established itself as a leading region in the forest-based bioeconomy. In the early 2000s, Paper Province started with services tailored to the needs of the pulp and paper industry, but decided to work towards a holistic industrial ecosystem for forest-based industries. Since 2013, the cluster management has been working towards building an effective innovation hub with participation of industry and science, an incubator, testbeds and other intermediaries.

Summary: Despite its comparatively recent existence, the Mechatronics Cluster has established itself as a relevant player in the regional industrial ecosystem and is thus an integral part of regional development. In 1990, the first ever mechatronics full degree programme was established at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU). In 2003, the Mechatronics Cluster was founded. Since then, the cluster has been working closely with other clusters of the region to increase competitiveness as well as industrial and technological sovereignty.

Summary: The Lyon-based TECHTERA cluster has established itself as a key actor within the regional textile ecosystem. The “Pôle de compétitivité“ has become an integral part of the region’s economic development, internationalisation and R&I strategies and is a strategic partner for the Regional Council of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes to facilitate regional industrial transition.

Summary: The Nord-Est Regional Innovative Cluster for Structural and Molecular Imaging (IMAGO-MOL) is the only medical imaging cluster in Romania and the EU. The cluster is significantly driven by research and focuses on enhancing cooperation between industry and academia in the ICT and health sector with the aim to provide high quality healthcare services.
