Mission/Objectives of the cluster organisation

The Association of Investigation and Industrial Cooperation of Andalusia "F. de Paula Rojas" (AICIA) is an association that exclusively pretends public interest without profit aim and whose purpose is to impel, orientate, and develop the industrial investigation, in order to favour the technological advance in Andalusia and to collaborate for a better capacity of the Andalusian industrial engineers.

 

The purposes of AICIA, as it is established in the fourth article of its statutes, are:

 

To realize investigation projects and studies of interest for the industry in general and particularly for its associates.

To establish cooperation relationships with public or private entities, or with people, for service contribution and the execution of investigation works.
To participate actively in the protection of the industrial environment, by means of evaluation of the contamination levels and advisory in fabrication processes less polluting and in corrective measures of the installations… AICIA has research laboratories in different parts of its research activities, as well as agreements for the joint use of the research laboratories at the Engineering School of the University of Seville.

Mission/Objectives of the cluster organisation

CENTER FOR PHYSICAL SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY (hereinafter FTMC) is the largest research institution in Lithuania. FTMC is carrying out unique research and technological development works in the fields of laser technologies, optoelectronics, nuclear physics, organic chemistry, bio and nanotechnologies, electrochemical material science, functional materials, electronics, etc., and developing high technologies expedient for business and society needs.

There are 3 main KETs, namely photonics, advanced materials and nanotechnology, that identify the priorities for the R&D activities and the most excellent knowledge based expertise in FTMC. The Centre is also focused on strengthening the skills in micro and nanoelectronics and has ambitious plans for R&D in this area.

At present FTMC can provide the KETs based services that can be exploited in technology development, prototyping, testing, production validation and other knowledge based solutions, important for first production and upscaling, and these… FTMC exploits the equipment that is originally made and obtained from world leading companies. We share a part of equipment between the individual groups and individual modules of technologies for overlapping tasks and processes that are carried out in the basic clean room area. We have special measures to prevent interference between separated tasks and R&D projects. We also have dedicated equipment with original functional features. The infrastructure of FTMC:

- Clean room facilities (about 300 sq. m; from ISO7 to ISO5).

- MBE machine: "SVT III-V MBE System Model C-V-2" for the growth of A3B5 semiconducting layers and quantum structures. The device is equipped with In, Ga, Al, Bi metallic sources, As bulk and cracker and Si and Be for doping.

- Integrated Vacuum Deposition System Model TFDS- 870 – intended for metal contacts deposition.

- Magnetron sputtering device EvoVac (Angstrom Engineering) with 4 guns and Kaufman and Robinson EH400 5A  ion gun.

The Institut für Mikroelektronik Stuttgart (IMS CHIPS) carries out industrial-oriented research in silicon technology, customized circuits (ASICs), nanopatterning and image sensor technology as well as being involved in professional development. It is a public foundation and partner to the Innovationsallianz Baden-Württemberg.

Among the research and development done at the Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart is the field of nano-electrical and nano-optical systems. We are in a top international market position in the development and production of advanced photo masks and diffractive optical components. This is done in a state of the art development and production environment with cutting edge structuring and measuring equipment available.

The Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart offers comprehensive support to small- and medium-scale companies realizing innovations with microelectronic technology.

The Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart houses the entire equipment necessary for qualified production of microchips…. Integrated circuits & systems

IMS offers both, access to various foundry technologies and to the IMS 0.5 µm / 0.8 µm CMOS process that provides a powerful Gate Array technology applicable for a fully digital and Mixed Signal Application with analog functions.

An outstanding feature is the fast and cost-efficient production of ASICs in small quantities of less than 100 chips as well as the production in series.

In addition to the development and technological consultancy we also provide the consolidated qualified manufacture and testing of ASICs. By cooperating with partners from the semiconductor industry the IMS can guarantee timely delivery and fast production of bulk orders. In cases where your application requires the development using other types of technology we provide this in cooperation with external semiconductor manufacturers.

Research Innovation and Technology Center for New Materials - RITecC

RITecC is a center dedicated to innovation and technology transfer for advanced functional materials. There are three main pillars: 1) materials for high-tech industries (e.g. electronics, automotive, renewable energy, telecommunications, security); 2) materials for bio-relatd industry and health; 3) materials for extreme conditions. The center ofer a large variety of services: preparation (especially thin films and nanomaterials) by various techniques (sputtering, PLD, CVD, MBE, chemical, electrochemical); structural and chemical analysis (XRD, SEM, TEM, EPR, Moessbauer, XPS); investigation of physical properties (electric, magnetic, thermic, optic, mechanic); development of demonstrators and prototypes.

The Center offers state-of-the-art equipment for structural investigations (high-resolution TEM/STEM), surface/interface analysis (XPS, XAS, PEEM/LEEM, AFM/PFM), optical spectroscopies (IR, Raman, luminiscence) and complex investigation of physical properties of advanced materials (VSM, SQUID, PPMS, cryostations, network analysers, dielectric spectroscopy, etc.).

The Center offers access also to clean room facilities (metallization, photo-litography, electron beam lithography, CVD deposition, plasma treatment)

CIDETEC is a private organization for applied research founded in 1997 that seeks to contribute value to companies by harnessing, generating and transferring technological knowledge. Located in the Donostia-San Sebastián site of Gipuzkoa’s Scientific and Technological Park, CIDETEC is comprised of three international technological reference institutes in energy storage, surface engineering and nanomedicine.

CIDETEC Energy Storage

The CIDETEC institute for Energy Storage specialises in creating new battery technology and facilitating its transfer to industry. The institute has the capacity to develop complete products and processes and offers material validation, pilot manufacture, pack engineering and battery testing and battery post-mortem analysis services.

CIDETEC Surface Engineering

The CIDETEC institute for Surface Engineering is a reference institute and the main thrust of an innovation pole specialising in the development of these technologies, providing surface solutions… Each institute has its own offices and installations furnished with top-of-the-line equipment, among them a pilot plant for integrated battery manufacture; first-rate European facilities specifically for the testing of batteries, equipment to synthesise, characterise and process polymers and advanced composites;and  laboratories completely equipped for surface study, characterisation and treatment.

Multitel

Belgium: Walloon Region

Multitel is an innovation centre, located in Mons, Belgium. The centre has 20 years of history. It was created in 1995. Two departments of Engineering Faculty of Mons (which became now the University of Mons) had proposed several common projects whose objective was to reinforce the economic development of the province of Hainaut by means of technological development. Those projects were labelled with the name of Multitel, which became the official name of our centre in 1999. That year, Multitel became a non-profit independent research centre. The same year, the Catholic University of Louvain joined Multitel in order to speed up the transfer of its research results to companies. Multitel became a bridge between universities and the industry (transfer of pure research to applied research in order to enhance the exploitation of the research results in companies). On the one hand, it continued receiving financial support from European and regional funds, on the other hand, it has developed its own financial… We own several equipments and laboratories:

3. 2 laboratories for railway trackside Eurobalise/BTM testing according to Subset-085

Center of Microscopy and Nanotechnology

The Center of Microscopy and Nanotechnology (CMNT) is a strategic research unit of the University of Oulu. The CMNT offers cleanroom, research, and analysis services for the University’s research groups and industry. Versatile selection of modern research equipment creates an excellent research environment for carrying out research in the fields of micro and nanotechnology and materials science.

The CMNT works in close collaboration with several Finnish and foreign universities, institutes, and companies.
The equipment of the CMNT can be roughly divided for fabrication and characterization devices. Fabrication devices enable preparation of different kinds of micro- and nanostructures and materials research. Characterization devices enable the analysis and measurement of optical and structural properties of micro- and nanostructures and materials. Besides technology related research, most of the characterization equipment can be used in other fields of research like in biomedical sciences.

CMNT equipment include for example several scanning electron microscopes (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA), x-ray diffractometer (XRD), and x-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF) for imaging, characterization of microstructure, and elemental analysis of various samples. The center has also equipment for sample preparation for all the analysis devices.

RENATECH-MIMENTO

MIMENTO is the member of French National network in micro & nanotechnologies, called Renatech, coordinated by the CNRS. MIMENTO is also the technology center of FEMTO-ST Institute, located at Besançon, France. MIMENTO is a state-of-the-art facility for micro and nanofabrication facility housed in its 860 m2 clean room, equipped with modern and powerful processing machines.
Mimento is pecialized in micro-nano-acoustics, micro-nano-optics and micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems. The R&D activity at MIMENTO follows the main points described below:
-Technological research: micro- and nano-structures for research in physics, chemistry and biology, microstructures for the characterization of new materials.
-Manufacturing processes: new manufacturing processes in silicon and other materials (lithium niobate, glass, piezolectric materials), new processes for microelectronics, silicon post-processing.
-Integration and encapsulation techniques for microsystems.
The clean room, open to all users, is managed… MIMENTO clean room provides eight working areas:

-photolithography ((laser pattern generator, spray and spin coaters, single & double side aligners),

-thin-film deposition (evaporation, sputtering, piezoelectric deposition cluster, PECVD, thermal oxidation, etc..)

-plasma etching (Silicon DRIE and RIE, quartz & niobate & glass DRIE, different RIEs),

-wet processes (electrodeposition, wet etch for Si, quartz, niobate, metals, etc.., porous silicon, …)

-packaging and 3D integration (wafer bonders,wire-bonder, flip-chip, megasonic cleaner, plasma activation,…)

-dicing and polishing (high precision dicer with cut&polish, wafer polishing)

-nanotechnology (FIB, E-beam lithography)

The access to the equipment is done via a reservation software  with personal ID and password in the clean room. Only people who have followed a training done by staff member can use the equipments. Several industrial partners are directly processing in our clean room. Several industrial boxes  are available for renting.
