by EREK News

The transition to Circular Economy (CE) is an essential contribution to the EU efforts of developing a sustainable, low carbon, resource efficient and competitive economy. Such a transition represents the opportunity to transform our economy, generate green jobs and build up sustainable competitive advantages for Europe. The Erasmus+ project Education for Zero Waste and Circular Economy (EduZWaCE) started at the end of 2018 to fill a gap in Vocational Education and Training (VETI) programmes dealing with zero waste and circular economy.

The international consortium consists of ten partners from nine European countries and is under the coordination of Developmental Center of Thessaly (AKETH-DCT) from Greece. The goal of the project is the creation of an interactive platform, comprising a Knowledge Hub, an Online Course and a Diagnosis Tool.

The Kick-off Meeting of EduZWaCE was held in the offices of the coordinator in Trikala, Greece. For two days, 20-21 November, the partners were able to exchange ideas about the development of the project. In the beginning of the project the main subjects were related to the management of the project and the 1st Intellectual Output, the Knowledge Hub of EduZWaCE.

The 2nd TPM was held in the premises of the Portuguese partner, LNEG, in Lisbon, in 23rd and 24th of May. The partners were able to discuss the updates of the Knowledge Hub, to create the structure of the platform and organize the next steps of the project.

What is next?

  • Under the coordination of University of Maribor, there will be a presentation of the project results till now in the 19th conference of European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP), organized by the ISST of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, in Barcelona from 15th to 18th of October 2019.
  • In late October 2019, the Multiplier event of the project will be held in Portorož, Slovenia at the same dates of the conference TBMCE 2019 to attract interested stakeholders.
  • The platform of the project, the 2nd Intellectual Output, will be presented in the Multiplier event and the 3rd Transnational Project Meeting to be held in Portorož, Slovenia in October.

The Knowledge Hub

Starting from July 2019, the partnership, under the coordination of LNEG, from Portugal, has made the Knowledge Hub available online in all partners languages. The aim of the Knowledge Hub is to support the development of interdisciplinary skills needed for new jobs in the area of ZW & CE. It is an interactive online resource centre, gathering selected information for enabling projects and ideas to be used and applied as inspiration coming from existing best cases and success stories.
