SODERCAN is the Regional Development Agency of the Cantabria Government created to be a support instrument of the regional SMEs improving their competitiveness mainly, through internationalisation, cooperation and R&D projects.

SODERCAN is not indifferent to the current global change from the lineal model of consumption to an economy where the resources last longer and the waste is minimised and reused. In addition to this, the regional Government has implemented a long – term waste plan 2017-2023, with measures to promote an efficient energy and a reasonable resource use. Thus, in line with this strategy, SODERCAN decided to launch a specific grant call of Circular Economy. The target is to encourage SMEs to carry out research projects in order to reduce the waste generation and improve the efficiency of the resources use in the region through studies of new applications, waste recovery, industrial processes, technologies use, among others. This pioneering initiative has continuity given the good results and the second call will be launched this year 2019.
