Today, the Vice President of the Silesian Aviation Cluster – Jarosław Bulanda – had the honor of participating in the visit of the Directors-General responsible for vocational education and training in the European Union, who visited the SkyPort Sectoral Skills Centre (BCU SkyPort) in Katowice, where we proudly serve as a business partner.

BCU SkyPort is a modern educational facility located in the heart of Silesia, combining cutting-edge technology, hands-on experience, and top-tier education. During the visit, our guests had the opportunity to witness how close collaboration between academia, business, and education creates a space that inspires, develops vocational competencies, and effectively addresses the needs of the aviation industry.

The visit featured a presentation of our state-of-the-art training facilities and laboratories, including:

  • The Aviation Robotics Laboratory,
  • The Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Laboratory,
  • The Logistics and Maintenance Training Facility,
  • The Airport Operations Services Training Lab,
  • The Crisis Management Room utilizing Virtual Reality,
  • The Drone Operations Lab.

Key representatives of institutions involved in the BCU SkyPort project were also present:

  • Anna Przybył – Director of the Sectoral Skills Centre SkyPort,
  • Halina Kasznia – First Vice President of the Board of ZDZ Katowice and Project Manager of BCU SkyPort,
  • Jacek Kwiatkowski – President of the Board of ZDZ Katowice,
  • Prof. Jarosław Kozuba, DSc, Eng. – Head of the Department of Air Transport at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, Silesian University of Technology, and Director of the Central and Eastern European Aviation Personnel Training Center.

As the Silesian Aviation Cluster, we have been actively engaged in the development of BCU SkyPort from the very beginning as a business partner. We strongly believe that initiatives like this – built through close cooperation between industry, science, and education – are crucial for shaping the skills of the future.

This visit was not only a testament to the growing importance of our regional initiative at the European level but also a valuable opportunity to showcase the potential of modern vocational education in the aviation sector.

We are grateful for the opportunity to take part in this event.
