reBUILD is a European initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between clusters in the European Union and Ukraine, with a focus on the furniture and construction sectors. The project supports the integration of Ukrainian SMEs into European value chains and helps them access international markets by promoting sustainable, innovative, and resilient business models.

Steering Committee Meeting – Cluj-Napoca, Romania
A key coordination milestone was the Steering Committee Meeting, held on July 1st, 2025, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Hosted by the Transylvanian Furniture Cluster, the meeting brought together project partners to review progress across all work packages, discuss upcoming activities, and align on next steps for communication, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement. This in-person meeting reinforced the strong collaboration within the consortium and provided valuable input for fine-tuning the next stages of implementation.

Progress highlights from reBUILD work packages

WP1. ECOSYSTEM CREATION, DEVELOPMENT & JOINT STRATEGIC ORIENTATION (M1-M24)
The first work package, which focuses on ecosystem creation and strategic orientation, has progressed significantly. One of the main achievements is the completion of a SWOT analysis, based on input from over 30 SMEs involved in the construction and furniture sectors. The feedback was collected through a targeted questionnaire and served to identify the current challenges and growth potential within the ecosystem. These insights will now inform the development of the joint reBUILD strategy, helping to establish clear priorities and action areas for integrating Ukrainian SMEs into European value chains.

WP2. KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER, SKILLS AND CLUSTER CAPACITY BUILDING (M1-M24)
A major pillar of reBUILD is supporting the digital and green transformation of SMEs through reskilling and upskilling initiatives. Each partner will deliver at least four hours of training, focusing on key areas such as digital innovation, sustainability, business development, and internationalisation. The training materials will later be compiled into a practical “RE-SKILLING to reBUILD” guidebook, designed to remain a reference beyond the project’s timeline.
In parallel, the international exchange programme is preparing to launch its first mobility round. The upskilling programme consists of two exchange cycles, each including three rounds of three-day visits in Romania, Spain, and Slovenia. Each round will immerse participants, SMEs, entrepreneurs, and cluster representatives, in real-world innovation practices.
The first UP-SKILLING Exchange will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia (12–14 November). Participants will explore advanced digital tools and technologies, while learning from best practices in companies, research centers, and digital innovation hubs. Themes include additive manufacturing, sustainability, and smart specialization in the furniture and wood sectors.

WP5. COMMUNICATION, DISSEMINATION & EXPLOITATION (M1-M24)
The communication and dissemination work package is now fully operational. We have finalized the visual identity of the project, including the logo and presentation templates.

News and updates about the reBUILD project will be communicated through the GO Furniture platform. Regular updates will include information on project activities, events, funding opportunities, and progress in key areas such as internationalisation, green transition, and skills development.
Communication activities are closely aligned with the broader GO Furniture platform, which also promotes reBUILD events and shares outcomes with the wider European cluster community.

WP6. PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION (M1-M24)
Project coordination is ongoing, with regular online meetings held between partners, in addition to the Steering Committee gatherings. Communication within the consortium is consistent and effective, supported by dedicated project management tools and email exchanges. Activities are being closely monitored to ensure high standards of implementation and alignment with project objectives.
As we move forward, the focus will remain on delivering high-quality training, building strategic international partnerships, and supporting the long-term integration of Ukrainian SMEs into the European market.
Why it matters
Through the reBUILD project, we aim to contribute not only to the resilience and competitiveness of the construction and furniture sectors in Ukraine and the EU, but also to their sustainability and innovation potential. By investing in skills, strategic planning, and cross-border collaboration, reBUILD creates a framework for long-term growth and recovery in a rapidly evolving economic environment.
We invite all stakeholders to follow the GO Furniture LinkedIn page, subscribe to the newsletter, and engage with our activities. Together, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, greener, and more interconnected European value chain.
