Overview

The One Sea – Autonomous Maritime Ecosystem is an industrial alliance with the mission to create the world’s first autonomous maritime ecosystem by 2025. The One Sea Ecosystem private side commercial leading and funding partners are ABB, Avikus, Cargotec, DIMECC, Finnpilot, Finntraffic, Haltian, Kongsberg, MTI, Orca AI, Sea Machines Robotics, TietoEVRY, and Wärtsilä. This alliance aims to speed up the utilization of digital technologies for the development of autonomous shipping. The scope is to increase the safety of shipping as well as energy efficiency and greener maritime logistics through automating and digitalizing ship systems and solutions. The ecosystem is an open multi-partner structure connecting all major stakeholders in its activities such as customers, maritime networks nationally and internationally, academia and universities, cities, and regional actors such as incubators, authorities, ministries, funding, agencies, etc. See the One Sea ecosystem setup below! The ecosystem launches new R&D&I projects for the maritime network, innovators, and ICT start-ups and opens the ecosystem activities to a more extensive network. The ecosystem influences the global discussion regarding rules and regulations as well as plans strategic roadmaps and industrial standards. The Ecosystem provides support to its members by managing the test area for piloting, testing, and experimenting with new digital innovations. The ecosystem collects and coordinates training and R&D&I initiatives and supports relevant activities to take place. The ecosystem also brands the development work and acts as an active communicator towards national funding agencies as well as strengthens visibility internationally.
