Spain: Valencia

Overview

Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV, www.ibv.org) is a private non-profit research technology centre based in Valencia (Spain) that studies the behaviour of the human body and its interaction with products, environments and services. We started activity in 1976 and currently we are a team of 164 professionals with varied background. The Institute is coordinated under the agreement of the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE) and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

With the aim to improve competitiveness among the business sector, IBV promotes people’s well-being through the combination of knowledge in five areas (https://www.ibv.org/areas-de-conocimiento):

Biomechanics of human body systems
3D anthropometrics
Human factors & Interfaces design
Human movements & Biomechanical evaluation, and
Human needs and preferences
