EUREM 'European Energy Manager' is an educational programme developed in Germany more than 20 years ago, which has helped to train over 4 500 public- and private-sector enterprises, building managers, production managers and process engineers how to reduce energy use. In Slovenia, the first EUREM scheme was organised as part of the project EUREM.NET in 2008. Ten training workshops were attended by 212 European energy managers. The total reduction in energy used by delegates (organisations) taking part in the training programme is estimated at 310 GWh, saving around € 19 million a year, and cutting CO2 emissions to 132 kt a year.
