Conference Summary: Trends, Innovations, and Challenges in the Aviation Industry - Operation of Airports and Terminals in the Silesian Region

The first day of the conference, held on September 24 at Park Hotel Diament in Katowice, focused on the key aspects of education and workforce preparation for the aviation industry.

Key discussion topics included:

  • Qualifications and skills required for the operation of airports and terminals
  • Training aviation personnel to meet labor market demands
  • Challenges in managing both large international airports and smaller regional airports
  • Achievements of students in national and international competitions
  • Collaboration between education and industry

Experts unanimously emphasized that aviation is a field that requires passion, responsibility, and consistency. Building a career in this sector demands patience and hundreds of hours of practical training – there are no shortcuts.

On the second day, the conference moved to the SkyPort Sector Skills Center in Katowice.

The event was opened by Halina Kasznia, President of ZDZ Katowice, who highlighted that aviation education must combine passion, responsibility, and perseverance while also addressing the real needs of the labor market.

The second day featured interactive workshops, giving participants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in small groups. Workshops included:

  • “Discover the Secrets of Robotics”
  • “Drones - Just a Toy?”
  • “Do You Know Why an Airplane Flies?”

Elżbieta Modrzewska, Silesian Deputy Education Superintendent, presented five key trends currently shaping the aviation labor market and sector:

  • The development of artificial intelligence and new technologies
  • Green transformation and sustainable development
  • Demographic changes
  • Economic uncertainty
  • Geopolitical fragmentation

The future of aviation is built together - through education, practical experience, and collaboration.
